UNITEX LOGISTICS, PANCO member in China & Hong Kong, recently coordinated the transport of a CFM56 aircraft engine from Melbourne, Australia, to Chengdu, China, handling a shipment valued at approximately US$9 million and weighing 4,605 kg.

Although designed to operate at cruising altitude, CFM56 engines require highly controlled handling on the ground due to their sensitivity to vibration, tilt and humidity. The operation involved a multi-leg airfreight solution with international-to-domestic connections, supported by integrated customs clearance and close coordination across each stage of the transport chain.
To protect the engine throughout the journey, UNITEX LOGISTICS implemented a dedicated securing plan using 14 high-tensile straps, anti-slip padding and four anchor chains. The shipment was transported using CFM56-compliant tie-down methods and air-ride suspension equipment, helping maintain stability during ground handling and inland movements.
The project was overseen on site from start to finish, ensuring the engine remained protected throughout transit. The result was an on-time delivery completed without damage while meeting the handling requirements of this high-value aviation cargo.
