GD-iTS Group, your Pangea partner in the Netherlands, has successfully managed a project involving the transport of 20 heavy battery units from Shanghai, China, to Germany. Each unit measured 7.81 x 2.65 x 1.70 m and weighed 22.5 tons.
The shipment was originally planned for barge transport; however, severe storms and a postponed barge call at the terminal required a switch to road transport to avoid demurrage and maintain the project schedule.
GD-iTS Group coordinated the full logistics flow, including terminal pickup, interim storage, and the upcoming final delivery to Visbek, Germany. The units departed from Shanghai, arrived in Rotterdam, and are arranged for on-time delivery to Germany.
The main challenge was clearing the cargo within the terminal’s free time. Storm conditions and temporary terminal closures made this impossible, but quick coordination and modal flexibility ensured the operation remained on track.
