ROTTERDAM OVERSEAS NETWORK, your Pangea partner in Thailand, recently managed two consecutive air freight shipments of fresh Thai fruits from Bangkok to Amsterdam, highlighting their expertise in handling perishable cargo.
The first shipment consisted of 54 boxes of Yellow Sweet Mango (Nam Dok Mai cultivar from Thailand), weighing 306 kg, with box dimensions of L 48 x W 36 x H 12 cm. The second shipment included a pallet of mangosteen and rambutan, totaling 54 packages, with a gross weight of 310.5 kg and pallet dimensions of L 122 x W 102 x H 144 cm.

Both shipments required strict temperature control and specialized logistics. The mangoes were maintained at +2 to +8°C, while the mangosteen and rambutan were kept at +4 to +8°C. ROTTERDAM arranged same-day collection from the factories located in the suburbs of Bangkok, using refrigerated trucks equipped with GPS-integrated temperature sensors. These systems continuously monitored and recorded the temperature in real time, and the driver or user could access live data through a mobile application or computer dashboard. The system instantly alerted when abnormal temperatures occurred, allowing immediate corrective action.
Cargo was transported directly to the airport without storage, then flown to Amsterdam. The first shipment of mango was transported by Qatar Airways (QR) on a direct flight, with a travel time of approximately 12 hours. The second shipment of mangosteen and rambutan was transported by Turkish Airlines (TK), connecting through Istanbul, with a total travel time of around 13 to 16 hours. Prior to departure from Thailand, fresh fruit shipments must undergo inspection by the Office of Agricultural Regulation, a step that can sometimes cause delays; however, the process was managed efficiently to ensure the fruits reached their destination in optimal condition.
Handling fresh fruit shipments requires precision and careful coordination. In these operations, ROTTERDAM ensured product quality was maintained and customer requirements were met. Perishable shipments form a regular part of their services, with volumes increasing during Thailand’s fruit season from April to June, underscoring their capability in handling time-sensitive, temperature-controlled cargo.
