GD-iTS Group, Pangea partner in the Netherlands, has managed the ongoing delivery of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across Europe. The project, which began in October 2024, includes confirmed deliveries to Estonia and Italy, with more sites scheduled. Each BESS unit—shipped from China in 20ft High Cube containers—weighs between 35 and 43 tons, requiring specialized permits, DG-certified drivers, and careful inspection due to the cargo’s high value.
GD-iTS’s tailored approach includes port handling, temporary yard storage, road surveys, site visits, and coordination with crane operators and hauliers for final delivery. Their detailed planning and on-the-ground oversight have ensured safe, efficient, and precise execution.
While all units to date have been delivered by road from the port of arrival, GD-iTS is actively exploring multimodal solutions—such as short-sea and inland waterways—to reduce road transport distances in future phases.
Due to shifting vessel schedules and limited permit validation windows, some deliveries had to be rescheduled. These delays, compounded by the availability of rented equipment and staff, introduced additional complexity and costs. Nevertheless, the GD-iTS team demonstrated adaptability and responsiveness, keeping the project on track.
Beyond the BESS operations, GD-iTS has recently handled several complex overweight and project cargo moves in the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Spain, and the UK. From strategic planning to on-site execution, the GD-iTS team consistently delivers every project safely, efficiently, and on time.
